DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and executing day-to-day activities of audit engagements for diversified clients.
  • Identifying and communicating accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Partners.
  • Building relationships with clients and business partners.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of business functions, strategies and processes to provide services, solutions, advice and improvement to clients served.
  • Applying knowledge and comprehension of professional standards and governing principles to client business.
  • Preparing audited financial statements.
  • Preparing tax returns and work papers (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040 and 1041s)
  • Quarterly financials and closings (compilations and reviews).
  • Fiscal year end tax returns, tax projections/estimates.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in public accounting. Experience should have involved small to larger corporations requiring compilations, review and audit statements. Broad base tax experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required. A CPA designation is preferred, but not required. Candidates should be prepared to meet challenging client requirements, provide value added services and should posses strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and analytical skills.

DESCRIPTION

Responsible for reviewing completed individual, partnership, corporate, S-corp and trust tax returns; assigning work to tax accountants, monitoring their progress and workload; preparing complex returns.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Reviewing all tax returns for accuracy, working with tax accountant to correct errors.
  • Meeting with or call clients with questions concerning their information.
  • Possessing knowledge of tax regulations in order to answer clients’ questions.
  • Preparing complex tax returns.
  • Preparing amended returns of any variety and complexity.
  • Preparing personal tax projections through utilization of computer software.
  • Performing tax research projections requiring expertise.
  • Preparing annual tax accruals as may be required in preparing corporate tax returns.
  • Working with confidential client matters.

JOB SUMMARY:  
To monitor all consumer entitlements for those individuals who receive residential and/or day services from Family of Services’ OMRDD and OMH programs. These programs include: Service Coordination, Residential & Day Habilitation, Respite, Pre-Vocational Training, Family Care, Individual Residential Alternatives, Intermediate Care Facilities, Family Based, Community Residence, RTF and Foster Care programs. In addition, the person holding this position will act as a liaison between Family of Services and the various funding sources, including Social Security, OMRDD, and OMH. This person will directly supervise the staff of the Entitlements Department, inclusive of Bookkeepers and Entitlements Specialists.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees daily operations of the Consumer Entitlements Department.
- Works with departmental staff to ensure that all issues with Social Security and Medicaid are being addressed in a timely fashion.
- Reviews all paperwork prior to submission to the various funding sources.
- Reviews all admission paperwork to ensure that the agency has all information necessary to properly enroll consumers into the programs they will participate in.

Ensure that the following are being done:
  • Monitors Medicaid & ensures on-going eligibility with the assistance of the Service Coordinator / Social Worker.
  • Disburses and records Personal Allowance and requests checks to MIS/AP (automatic voucher entry).
  • Bank account reconciliation of SSI/SSDI and VA Pension Deposits
  • Verify Balances assuring that they are maintained below $2,000.00 and deposits are made correctly.
  • Financial reporting that indicates SSI/SSDI/VA Pension Total Cash disbursement, room and board reports by program and room and board comparative report (actual income vs. expected income)
  • Uses award letters to adjust consumer entitlements and sets up consumer reimbursement procedures if the benefit falls below the expected NYS levels for Congregate Care Level I & II.
  • Files appeals and fair hearings when entitlements are in question.
  • Verification and monthly payment vouchering for Family Care participants who work.
  • Participation in consumer meetings to discuss benefits, as needed.
  • Assisting families with long-term financial planning, including the establishment of Supplemental Needs Trusts.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    BA/BS. Extensive Knowledge of Medicaid, SSI & SSDI a must. Math or finance background necessary. Must have experience working with outside agencies.

    RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
    The Supervisor must be able to interact with a multicultural population of both program participants and staff; have excellent organizational, oral and writing skills; must be able to interface with our Finance Department as well as other agencies & providers. This position requires a team player who recognizes the importance of our Mission and how it relates to supporting individuals and their families.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    The Consumer Entitlements Supervisor must maintain open communication with all staff to provide the best service possible to the individual. A professional posture will always be followed when in and out of the office.

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
    - The Supervisor is ultimately responsible for managing the consumers’ entitlements as they relate to their personal needs and fiscal responsibilities to the agency. This person will work collaboratively with the rest of the programmatic team to help the individual meet his desired outcomes.
    - Additionally, the supervisor will oversee the Entitlements Department staff and will work with them to ensure the daily functions of the department are being carried out.
